Some of the most wonderful things in life are those characterized by a distinctive ephemerality, and the blooming of the Echinopsis cactus flower is one of those things. Echonopsis is a large genus of cacti native to South America, and their blooming cycle is amazingly short. The cacti will bloom overnight, and the flowers only last for about a day, only staying at peak beauty for an hour or two. It is this remarkable process that turned Greg Krehel into an Echinopsis cacti enthusiast and photographer, and he created the time lapse video below to showcase the incredible nature of these tiny cacti.
