Using an air brush and stencils, artist Roustan paints an image on this model's body. When displayed under a black light, the painting takes on a whole new form. Using both positive and negative space, Roustan is able to create a 3D image that seems to be almost floating in space. Working with the contours of the model's body, Roustan is able to make her virtually disappear in the darkness. By placing all of his lines in such a way that they move along the ridges and valleys of the model's ribs, stomach, shoulders, arms, and back, he can use the natural shadowing effect of her varied "terrain" to add depth to the painting.
Airbrushing as a means to create body art is quickly picking up popularity. The method, when done correctly by a practiced air brush artist, provides a flawless, full-body costume. In the realm of Sci-fi conventions and Comic Con, air brushing allows for some of the most realistic remakes of non-human characters. Air brushing is also a great way to create abstract looks in photographs. Utilized in both amateur photography and high fashion photography, air brushing is a great way to truly accentuate the model in front of the camera. Any way you look at it, using the human form as a canvas is a pretty spectacular way to paint!
